A.J. Jones is a 2008 SS/2B/OF/P from Celebration High School in Celebration, Florida, with a 5'8'', 155 lb. frame. Defensively he has nice footwork with quick feet that allow him to play in the middle of the infield. Jones has soft hands with good actions and will make all of the plays. During the workout and game action, he made some nice plays charging the ball showing body control. He currently profiles more as a second baseman at the next level, but he is a young player with room to grow. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with a quiet approach and no load. Jones is short to the ball and centers the ball well with a line drive swing plane. He hits the ball to all fields with good contact and should hit for a high average. He lacks pop in his bat, but he has the hitting skills to hit at the top of the order and make things happen. He is also an outstanding student.
