2006 California Underclass
Jeffery Bunch is a 2007 MIF from Serrano HS, residing in Victorville, CA, with a 5'11" 158 lb. frame. Bunch has a lean and athletic build with good physical coordination. Strength gains will enhance his abilities. He is a switch-hitter and from the right side he has a quiet set-up and approach, resluting in an easy, low-effort swing. Bunch maintains good balance during that swing and is a spray type hitter, capable of using the whole field. From the right side Bunch's hitting tools are there but he needs to work to develop better timing at the plate. From the left side he hits from an open stance and again, shows a smooth and easy swing. Bunch gets through the ball well at contact and shows some life in his left handed swing. His hand path is good, as is his bat speed. His bat speed is a key area that will get better with strength gains. On defense Bunch looked to have fairly athletic movements. He showed a good release and the ball carried well. Bunch's footwork is decent. He has a quick arm and both his hands and his arm are above average for an '07 prospect. Bunch's Brother Kevin was 7th round pick as a RHP by the A's in 2005 draft. He has good genes, an athletic look, is a switch-hitter, which all adds up to Bunch being a good D1 follow.
