Cassidy is one of the most projectable pitchers we saw in Fort Myers. He has a lean, loose 6-2, 180 lb body and a very fluid, tension free arm stroke. We’d seen him throw 90 from the outfield this summer but this was our first chance to see him on the mound. Unfortunately, we don’t think Cassidy was close to 100% physically when his turn came. During his first game, Cassidy made an incredible diving effort on a fly ball and came down hard on his left, non-throwing, shoulder and may have suffered a partial dislocation. He insisted on throwing the second game and was still able to throw 85-88 mph with above average command and good running life. Cassidy’s 74 mph change up was his best secondary pitch and his 74-75 mph curveball showed some very good promise, too. This is a young pitcher that, for scouts, is well worth keeping a close eye on this spring. He's an excellent athlete, 6.8 runner, plus arm, and he can hit. Highest level DI prospect that should create some serious draft interest.
