Moreland is a 6-0 left handed pitcher from Florida who appears to be bigger than his listed size. He has a balanced delivery and some good whip in his arm action. Moreland showed good command of a 75-78 mph fastball that had normal left hander’s movement from a standard ¾’s release. He threw 2 types of breaking ball; a soft 55-60 mph curveball from his fastball release point that he slowed his arm on and a low ¾’s to sidearm curveball at 61-63 that had much better spin and bite. Moreland should see immediate improvement in raw stuff with more strength and better conditioning. Moreland also showed some ability as a position player. He makes consistent hard contact at the plate with a simple, line drive swing and showed soft hands and a good ability to pick throws out of the dirt at first base. Moreland is an excellent student.
