John Winston is a 2005 middle infielder from Dallas, TX, with a good balance of tools and skills that could take him to a high level as he continues to get stronger. Winston pressed a bit in batting practice working the aluminum out of his swing, but swung the bat very well in games. He got much better extension against live pitching, and hit through the ball and showed some power potential. Defensively, Winston has very good hands and smooth actions through the ball and handled both shortstop and second base well. He runs fairly well, showing quick feet and first step quickness. John is a very good student.
