Jono Waugh is a lean athletic MIF from Oxford, AL. He's not a big guy, but this kid is an outstanding athletic player. He runs MLB plus 6.62 in the 60 and 4.1 H-1 time. His arm plays at SS but he looks like a potential big league 2B. He has very good quick hands and excellent actions. His quick hands and feet are ideal for 2B and he has excellent range with first step quickness. He's a highest level defensive MIF. He can hit and made hard contact against the top pitchers in Tropicana Field. The bat is quick and he shows surprising power. He's going to get bigger and stronger so it would not surprise us if Jono Waugh ends up playing in the Big Leagues some day. He's a highest level college SS/2B and a top of the order hitter who will steal bases. Jono is a very good student.

Jono Waugh is a 2005 MIF from Oxford, AL. Waugh was one of the most impressive prospects at the Showcase and earned an invitation to play at the Perfect Game National, along with a spot on a national travel team for the WWBA 18U National Championship. Not only does Waugh have very good tools, he plays the game with a flair and energy that’s really fun to watch. This kid’s a ballplayer! Waugh is 5'10" with a live body and wiry strength. He’s a 6.7 or better runner in the 60 and has quick actions in the field and on the bases. Waugh is especially aggressive on the bases and will steal and take the extra base. Defensively, Waugh has very good hands and is especially good at charging and coming through balls and making a quick throw. His arm strength is a tad short of what top level college coaches are going to want to see at shortstop, but Waugh should be an outstanding defensive second baseman. One PG scout called him a "Playmaker" on defense. At the plate, Waugh has a quick short swing with good bat speed and some loft. His wiry strength and strong hands come into play here. Waugh showed the ability to drive the ball hard to right centerfield and does a good job of keeping his hands inside the ball. He is an exciting player who can excell at any college program in the nation and MLB scouts are going to love him too.
