Joshua Shanahan -- Shanahan is a short but strong junior second baseman. He hits out of an open stance with a low hand set and has a nice compact swing that led to good contact both in batting practice and in games. Shanahan would hit with more authority if he got his hips closed a bit more prior to starting his swing. One thing he needs to work on athletically is increasing his speed and foot quickness if he’s going to play in the infield. Shanahan also threw 5 innings in one outing and did a great job pounding the strike zone and keeping the action going. Shanahan has a smooth delivery and some arm speed for his size. His fastball was consistently 77-79 mph and he threw a 66-67 mph slurve, too. Joshua is a good student.
