2005 California Top Prospect Showcase
Keith Jennette is a 2006 MIF from Del Campo HS, residing in Citrus Heights, CA, with a 5'8", 145 lb. frame. He has a wiry, athletically proportioned build with good body control and balance in his game. Jennette hits from a square stance and flashes some life in his swing. He has a nice set-up at plate and is best when he is executing an opposite field approach. There are plenty of base hits and line drives in his future with that simple approach. His swing is not complicated. Jennette is a good defensive player. He takes good angles on ground balls and pop-ups and breaks on the ball well. He has a good set-up to the ball and approaches it well, not allowing the ball to play him. He stays low and works below the ball, allowing him to keep even tough hops and mishandled balls in front of him with a chance to still make the play. His feet are a defensive asset. As for his arm, the ball exits Jennette's hand well and he has enough arm for most of the plays a shortstop needs to make. He plays defense with rhythm, plays the shortstop position well, and on the strength of his defensive ability, he is a good follow for college programs in the spring.
