Kemick is a sophomore catcher from California with a mature thick body and good present strength for his age. He shows his strength at the plate with a short, compact swing that shows raw power and bat speed. Kemick hits out of a no load/limited stride approach that doesn't allow him to generate any rhythm through the ball, but his strength overcomes this for now. He does show the ability to make bat head adjustments. Defensively, Kemick has surprising quickness for his size and age. His pop times were relatively slow but he actually had a quick release and good arm strength for a sophomore. Kemick needs to get some hip rotation and lower body turn into his throws and his pop times and arm strength will improve immediately. Kemick has very good energy behind the plate as well. Overall, this is a talented young player is poised to improve quickly with just some minor adjustments to his game. Keep an eye on him. Kemick is a good student.
