LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2006 National Showcase
Kyle Prohovich is a 2007 right hand hitting 1st baseman/outfielder from Roxbury Latin School, residing in Weston, MA. Prohovich has a big and physical build on a strong 6'4" 215 lb. frame. Prohovich was one of the more interesting power prospects in the showcase and was ranked #55 among PG National Top 100 position players. He hits from a square stance and has a set-up that was nearly identical to former MLB All-Star Dante Bichette. Not only was his set-up like Bichette's, his swing had similarities too. He hits from that same type crouch, with his hands set in front of his body. Prohovich showed plus bat speed and hands that fired well. He stayed inside the ball and has a flat, line drive swing plane. Prohovich is a patient hitter with good raw power to all fields. He is short to the ball and produces power with that short stroke. There is not a whole lot of physical projection but Prohovich is going to get stronger and should be a productive extra base, middle of the line-up type hitter. He is an adequate defender with a good arm and decent hands. His job is going to be hitting and producing runs and Prohovich is capable of that. He has a chance to be an impact hitter as a freshman at the D1 level and will also get solid pro interest this fall. His raw power and short stroke can play in pro ball. He ran 4.89 home/1st with a 7.38 60.
