Luke McCall is a very strong and muscular 6'0/208 2005 catcher from Corpus Christi, TX. He has some good physical tools and raw baseball skills. His strength is an obvious asset swinging the bat, and McCall showed good bat head control and hand eye coordination. He didn’t show the power you might expect as he was jumping out at the ball and cutting himself off out front, but the ball came off the bat very well on contact. Defensively, McCall doesn’t lack for hustle or arm strength, both those qualities play well at the highest level. He needs more repetitions and coaching to smooth out his receiving and throwing skills, but he has the single most important ingredient, arm strength (80 mph to 2B). He also runs very well and shows athleticism. Luke is a good student.
