Combs is a good catcher who plays the game easy and showed good actions throughout his game. He can receive the ball like he is warming up and his catch and throw skills appear to be second nature to him. The 74 mph velocity he displayed is playable at the next level with his good footwork, release and transfers. He was popping around 2 flat with regularity and his best time of 1.96 reflects his sound mechanics. His arm strength should continue to improve. Blocking, framing, and setting up for the pitch were all areas that Combs showed his experience as a catcher. His bat is also a good one. He has a 6 foot frame with 180 pounds and can swing the wood with good bat-speed already and it is a short swing that hit line drives. He gets behind the ball well and had no problem showing that he belongs in the prospect catergory for the 2005 recruiting class. A definite follow.
