Michael Main is a 2007 right hand pitcher and right hand hitting outfielder from Deland HS, residing in Deltona, FL. He has a 6'2" 180 lb. frame that is lean, lithe, and sinewy strong, with fast twitch composition of the ridiculous variety. Regarded as one of the, if not the top talent in the 2007 class, he was ranked #1 among the 2006 PG National Top 100 pitchers and would have rated highly as a position player alone. Main's long term future appears to be strongest on the mound, but do not discount his position player status. On the mound he has a lightning quick arm with a high effort arm stroke that comes at hitters from a high 3/4 slot. His arm is loose and his delivery is pretty solid. With an explosive mid-90s FB that can reach up to 98, there is little doubt about his raw stuff. Mix in a tight 75-79 mph snappy curveball, thrown with good command, and now you have a legitimate two pitch guy. Then consider that he throws his 80 mph change-up with plus armspeed and his stuff borders on absurd. As his fastball control becomes command and he learns more about approaching hitters, he will get better and better. As a hitter, Main has plus bat speed and line drive power. His bat has a flat path through the zone, meaning his mistakes will leave the yard in the coming years. The ball exits his bat well and his hands do work well with a lower half that is in sync with his upper half. In the outfield he has that plus plus arm and is a ball hawk with a good fundamental approach to playing defense. There really is not a limit to how good he can be or what he can do and as he learns to slow the game down, look out. Main ran 4.34 home/1st and posted a blistering 6.43 60 yard time. Heading into the spring '07 season, Michael Main is one of a few players that will be mentioned as an upper first round talent.

Michael Main is a 6'2" 175 pound 2007 outfielder and right handed pitcher from Deland High School in Deltona, Florida who was named to the Top Prospect Team. He has a tall lean build that is very projectable and good athleticism. Michael hits with an open stance and is very quiet in the box with very good balance. He gets good extension and shows big time power potential. He has good bat speed and is very aggressive. He tracks the ball very well in the zone and drives the ball to all fields. Main also has tremendous speed which he showed by running a 6.62 60 and a 4.25 down the line in the game. Michael is one of the top prospects in the country who is also an excellent student with a 4.1 gpa.

Michael Main -- Main is one of the top couple of freshman baseball players in the country both as a pitcher and a position player. He looks like a freshman at 6-1, 160 lbs with a young face and slender features, but he certainly doesn’t play like it. That appearance might change, too, as Main’s dad is a big athletic looking man and his son is very projectable. As a pitcher, Main has a long, loose full circle arm stroke and fairly complicated delivery with lots of check points along the way. A lesser athlete can’t repeat this delivery but Main did. His fastball was in the 86-89 mph range with running life. Main threw 2 types of curveballs, one a 70-72 mph breaker that had occasional very good bite, another a 62-64 mph spinner that doesn’t show as much promise or intent. Main also showed surprising feel for a 71 mph change up and was around the zone with all his pitches. Despite being the rare freshman who can/will hit 90 mph, Main might be a better prospect in the field. He’s a big league average runner right now to start with. Main plays both catcher and centerfield and we’d much rather see him in center now, both because he profiles there better and because there is less chance of serious injury that might affect his pitching. Main has excellent bat speed for his age and outstanding swing fundamentals. He has an ideal load, quick hands and stays on and through the ball well. The ball jumps off Main’s bat and he’s going to have some serious power in the future. Maybe the nation's top "07" prospect at this time, Michael is an excellent student.
