OF Michael Harrington: As expected, Harrington geared up his swing to the higher velocity pitching he saw at the Showcase as compared to what he’s been seeing in Iowa this spring and hit the ball very well. His front foot approach costs him some power but he hit a couple balls out in batting practice and laced two solid line drives to the outfield off mid to high 80’s stuff in games. Harrington also ran 7.06, the best time we’ve recorded for him and threw well from the outfield. He’s signed to College of Charleston.

OF/3B Michael Harrington: We see Harrington virtually every day down at the Perfect Game facilities and he even made a quick trip across the street from Veteran’s Memorial Stadium to the cages to get a few swings in between the fielding drills and batting practice. Harrington hit very well both in batting practice and in games at the Showcase and has been solid throughout the Spring League as well. He’ll hit even better when he starts seeing high velocity fastballs, too, as this is his real strength as a hitter. Harrington has a tendency to get out on his front side early against the soft stuff, which takes away his power, but his hands are plenty quick and strong enough to handle the 90 mph heat. Harrington’s peripheral tools keep getting better, too. He ran 7.16 in the 60 and threw 86 mph from the outfield, both very respectable figures. Harrington also plays third base but he’s likely going to be a corner outfielder/middle of the order hitter at the college level. He’s signed with College of Charleston.

Harrington is an "04" OF from Cedar Rapids, IA. We've seen him a lot over the years so we can safely say, he can rake!. At 6'1/185 he is strong and his left handed swing creates serious bat speed. He has a habit of lunging during BP then timing things perfectly in the games. He has been one of the top hitters at every event he attends. He also has greatly improved his running and throwing ability. His arm is close to MLB ave. and he runs just a bit less than MLB ave. The one big tool is the bat! He can hit. Championship makeup and a great work ethic.

We’ve seen Harrington on a daily/weekly basis in Cedar Rapids for some time. He can do one thing extremely well and that’s hit from the left side. Harrington showed his skills well in Lincoln. In back to back plate appearances against top pitchers, he lined an 89 mph fastball on the inside half hard into right field, then came back the next time and lined a quality slider on the outside half over the shortstop’s head. Harrington is a patient hitter who keeps his hands back very well and centers the ball.. The power will be a big tool as he matures. The best way to summarize Harrington is that he has a polished big league approach at the plate. He's strong now and will continue to gain strength. The ball really jumps off his wood bat. How high and how often Harrington plays will be determined by how much he can improve his defensive skills. He plays left field and third base now but without distinction. He may end up at first later down the road. His arm strength is more than playable at any number of positions. He needs to settle in at one spot and master it. The bat will find the line up. Michael is a very good student.

Harrington has quickly become a prospect to watch in Iowa. He is a 6 foot, 180 pound outfielder with a Division 1 Left-handed swing. He showed solid outfield actions playing the game easy and throwing 81-83 mph from right field. Defensively he is an asset. He ran a 7.11 in the 60 and with the good first step, that speed plays nicely in a corner. His swing is just the right length and he can attack both corners of the plate. He showed occasional power with wood and has shown good eyes on several occasions. He hit all line drives in Bp and in the games with a couple bouncing off the fence. He can also pitch well, which he never had the chance to do here. There should be a lot of Colleges looking at him and we will be following him very close over the next year.

Harrington is a "04" OF/P with outstanding strength and a good arm. He runs Ok and will improve in all areas of the game. The least amount of improvement needed is the bat. He swings (attacks) with MLB bat speed. He projects to hit with long ball power. He has one of the quickest bats in the "04" class. The ball comes off his wood bat with a big cracking sound and in a real hurry. He hit some of the hardest line drives of anyone in Ft Myers. That bat plays real big and is a draftable tool. He pitched around 80 with a good breaking ball. He will do a good job pitching in high school, but his future revolves around his left-handed hitting ability. It's a pretty bright future.

Harrington is a strong "04" with some of the best bat speed you'll see. The ball jumps off his bat and he will become a top level power hitter. If he continues to improve look for him to be a possible nice draft pick. His arm, running ability and everything else plays now and should get even better.

Harrington is a good young athlete who has a rare tool in his bat. He could develop into one of the nations best hitting prospects over the next couple years. He does everything else adequately.
