Michael Mooney is a 2006 middle infielder from Loxahatchee, Florida, with a 5'6", 122 lb. frame. Defensively Mooney is very good. He showed very nice actions at shortstop with soft hands. He has good range to both sides, and uses his feet well to get in position to make plays. Mooney also showed solid transfers, and good arm action throwing 77 mph across the infield. He is a right handed hitter who uses a toe tap trigger from a narrow stance with good bat speed. He has good balance in his swing, and has a line drive swing plane. Mooney is a contact hitter, and shows good plate discipline. He took a very good batting practice, and hit very well in the games as well, including a 3-3 performance. Mooney has a nice set of baseball tools, he just needs to add strength to his body to improve is overall game. He is also a very good student.
