Michael Lange is a 2006 C/1B/3B from Steele Canyon HS in Dulzura, CA, with a 6'1", 205 lb. frame. Defensively he has good receiving skills and works with the pitchers well. Lange has some arm strength, but he could improve it immediately by staying behind the ball on his throws-he has the tendency to get under the ball on his throws to second base. At the plate he hits left handed with an open stance and a high hand set. Lange loads his hands well with good rhythm in his swing that generates very good bat speed. He stays balanced throughout his swing with good leverage and present raw power. Lange stays inside the ball well and stays back on off speed pitches and drives them. He should be a solid defensive catcher who can hit with average and power at the next level. Lange is also an outstanding student.
