2003 South Underclass Showcase
Westbury is a small left-hander entering his Junior year. He has ability and good mechanics on the hill. The only area lacking being the power type of stuff that profiles for the larger College programs. He showed us a 73 mph fastball and 63-66 mph curve. With both pitches he threw to the mitt and moved the ball around enough to make batters jump at it. He comes from a three-quarters arm slot and hides the ball well from his current delivery. He showed us a good tight and quick arm action that should get into the 80 mph range as he develops his strength and body over the next 1-2 seasons. He can swing the bat a little bit with a contact hitters approach but clearly showed his best potential to reach the College level as a pitcher. He's a lefty who can pitch!
