Dewey Dovel is a 2013 1B/RHP with a 6-5 230 lb. frame from Aurora, TX who attends Decatur. Very big frame, tall and strong. Impressive two-way prospect. Big raw power, aggressive swing, power oriented approach, good bat speed, strong at contact, good extension through the ball. Pitches from high three quarters arm slot, long arm action, ran fastball up to 88. Throws curveball for strikes, true 12-6 breaker with feel, online delivery, quick arm, keeps fastball down in zone, flashed solid changeup. Listed as primary 1B but PG scouts were split on whether they see him as a pitcher or a hitter long term, has a future as either. Excellent student.
