Hoynoski is a 6-0 right handed pitcher from Massachusetts with a medium athletic frame. He showed good athletic ability in workouts, running 6.98 on a wet track and throwing 85 mph from the outfield. Hoynoski threw 4 shutout innings during the games, striking out 6 hitters. He has a full arm action with good directional mechanics. Hoynoski’s fastball topped out at 81 mph. His best pitch was a 63-66 mph curveball that had nice downward break to it and was hard for the hitters to make solid contact with. His mid-60’s change up was also a solid secondary pitch. We suspect that Hoynoski usually as a bit more velocity on his fastball based on his whole athletic package and the fact that he threw in both the outfield and infield during workouts before taking the mound to pitch. Hoynoski is also a very good student. He is an athletic player to keep a close eye on.
