2004 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Randy is a 2005 grad from Mission Bay High School in the San Diego area. He stands 5'10" 190 lbs. with a very durable catchers body that should hold up well. Randy shows very good arm strength with 76 mph velocity and 2.1 pop times. He also has good hands and receiving ability. Randy can hit. He has an aggressive swing with present strength and good gap to gap line drive contact. We particularly like his bat control; he is able to use all fields and has the strength to drive the ball from line to line. He's short to the ball and that type of approach works at all levels. Randy is a good student who has plenty of potential to be a real strong player at the college level.
