2004 Underclass National Showcase
Russell Geary -- Geary is a big, Pro body, junior first baseman from Pennsylvania who swings the bat from the left side. He has strength in his upper body but is going to have to work some on his lower body life and quickness. Geary has a lot of movement in his load but settles down well and has a nice, smooth swing. It looks like he likes the ball down in the strike zone and he does a good job of dropping the bat head down through it while maintaining his balance and direction. Geary uses all fields right now and goes with pitches on the outside half well but he looks like the type who might develop some power in the future. He's a big time hitting prospect who projects big time power. He also pitches, but his future is as a slugging 1B. Russell is a very good student who should be in big demand by college programs.
