Joe Gaines is a 2015 SS/2B with a 6-1 150 lb. frame from London, KY who attends South Laurel. Tall, projectable frame with long limbs. Athletic player who ran a 6.72 60 yard dash. Moves well defensively and shows quick actions in the infield. Has a short arm action and is quick transferring the ball from glove to throwing hand. He works through the ball well. Throws are online and have carry on them. A left-handed hitter, Gaines hits from a slightly open set up with high hands and high back elbow. Squares up the ball consistently and has good bat speed. Hard contact with power to pull side. Excellent student.
