Donald Hernandez is a 2013 LHP/1B with a 6-3 210 lb. frame from La Quinta, CA who attends Desert Chapel. Hernandez has a large frame with a solid strong build. He pitches from a H 3/4 arm slot and uses a shorter arm action in his delivery. Hernandez pitches across his body and lands with a shorter stride. The short stride causes him to pole vault over his front leg and fall off to the 3B side of the mound. With lower half adjustments to his delivery his velocity will increase. Hernandez gets sink on his change up and he also throws a 1/7 curve ball. Defensively, Hernandez showed nice hands at first base and moves well around the bag. At the plate, he uses a no load approach with developing bat speed. Very good student.
