2010 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
Joseph Nicolace is a 2012 LHP/1B/OF with a 5-11 190 lb. frame from Cranston, RI who attends Cranston West HS. Strong, compact build. High leg lift delivery, high hand separation, good balance, tall finish, hides ball well, 3/4's release point, throws downhill. Mid 70's fastball, mostly straight, tends to overthrow curveball, flashes downer break. Athletic defensive first baseman, quick feet, soft hands, also plays outfield, sound fundamentals, on line accurate throws. Spread stance hitting, long swing with some strength, looks to pull, has some pop, ball comes off well, solid contact, good extension. Grades out higher as a position player at this point.
