Darren O'Brien is a 2012 OF/3B with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Fairfield, CT who attends Hopkins School. Lean, athletic build with lots of room to fill. Has feel for outfield position. Fields well with good body control and quick, light feet. Two-piece arm action, projects for more arm strength in future. Open approach at the plate. Lots of pre-swing movement with hands. Some stiffness in hands but gets them thru well. Looks to hit the ball to the middle of the field with strength to right-center field. Projects to gain more power as he gains more physical strength. Very good student.
