TJ Roach is a 6'3" 172 pound 2006 right handed pitcher and outfielder from Gilbert, Arizona who attends Higley High School. He has a tall and lean frame that is very projectable. TJ throws from a low three quarter arm slot with a quick arm that is very long. His fastball at 84 mph has very good sink to it and is very heavy which lets him get a lot of ground balls hit to his infielders. His curveball at 68 mph is more like a slurve and is a pitch he can throw for strikes. Roach also throws a split finger fastball at 70 mph that he has a very good feel for and it has good sink as well. His mechanics and good command allow him to deceive the hitters and attack them at the same time. At the plate, TJ has a good swing that shows some good bat speed. He definitely has good power potential in his lofted swing. He starts with an open stance and has an upright narrow base. Overall, Roach is a high level pitching prospect with a very good upside. He is a very good student as well with a 3.85 gpa and a 1340 on his SAT.
