Travis Smith is a 2005 first baseman from Morningview, Kentucky, with a strong 6'4", 210 lb. frame. He has smooth actions defensively around the first base bag, and he moves well to the ball with easy athletic moves, especially for his size. As good as Smith was defensively, his power bat is his best tool. He is a right handed hitter who hits from an upright stance and a high hand set. Smith has plus bat speed with big time raw power. He has a good load with a slight lift in his swing that produces good back spin. His pro level body and strong hands make you believe he has a huge upside. He shows present college hitting tools with pro power potential, and when he learns to stay on balls on the outer half of the plate, he will meet his full potential as a hitter. Travis is a good student.
