C/RHP/3B Tyler Howe: Howe is a senior catcher from Iowa who also shows good talent as a pitcher and third baseman. He has good present strength throughout his body and uses it well with the wood bat in his hands. Howe is a left handed hitter who takes a big load and full, aggressive swing. He’s also a very patient hitter who seems to have the instincts to wait patiently through a count until he gets a fastball where he wants it. Howe’s shown us some power in the past and has the bat speed and instincts to hit at the next level. Defensively, Howe has very solid arm strength that translates into pop times in the 1.90’s during workouts and an 83-85 mph fastball off the mound. A little higher release point on his throws would improve his accuracy, as his throws tent to tail into the runner at second base. We’ve only seen Howe in a closer type role but he seems to have a great demeanor for relief and throws a nice mid-70’s slider to compliment his fastball. He should be able to handle junior college hitters as a pitcher at least. Overall, Howe has a nice varied collection of skills that play well at the college level.

Howe is a Junior catcher with good size and a powerful approach on both sides of the ball. He is 6 feet tall and 205 pounds and has some excellent catch and throw ability. His receiving ability was good and his footwork looked quick and efficient. He popped consistently under 2.0 and as low as 1.89 with good carry at 77 mph. He showed good bat-speed and did not hold back in BP launching a few at the fence with wood. The swing was strong but still within his limits without sacrificing his balance. We imagine he can hit it a long way with aluminum. He also got on the mound and showed 82 mph velocity with a good 74 mph slider. He is a good Junior that needs to be seen by College scouts.

Howe is another good looking 04 prospect. He's a strong kid who catches and pitches. He shows some catching skills and hitting ability, but we like his arm the best.
