Vinny Block is a 2006 3b/OF/RHP from Merrick, New York, with a 5'11", 180 lb. frame. Defensively he showed solid arm strength for his age with solid actions at third base. He is a right handed hitter with a wide and strong base. He generates good torque in his swing, and swings hard. Block covers the plate well with a simple swing. He has good bat speed and will turn on the inside pitch well showing strength in his swing with potential for more power in the future. He keeps his hands inside the ball well, and swung the bat well in batting practice and games. Block also pitched two innings at the showcase topping out at 78 mph with his fastball, and showing good movement on the pitch. He struck out four hitters in his two innings. Block is a strong player with present tools that should continue to improve.
