2005 Unsigned Seniors Showcase
Veciana is an extra big 6-5, 225 lb right handed pitcher from Florida. He has long arms and a low waist. Veciana throws with a long, extended throwing motion that drops his hand low in back and comes around to a high ¾’s release point in front. Veciana threw 4 effective innings at the showcase, mixing 3 pitches and rarely throwing the same pitch 2 straight times. His go to pitch was a 65-68 mph split change up that had somegood tumbling action. Veciana’s curveball was in the mid-60’s and had good spin and bite at times. His fastball topped out at 79 mph and was mostly 76-77 mph. Veciana pitched to spots with all his pitches and had an idea of how to use his stuff. He is big but relies more on finesse than power. Interesting to follow.
