Collins is a 6-0, 175 lb right handed pitcher from Georgia with a medium athletic build. He showed very good arm strength from the outfield during drills at 86 mph and was able to translate most of that arm strength to the mound. Collins has a quick arm and solid pitching mechanics that enable him to throw strikes and attack the strike zone. He gets good running action on an 80-84 mph fastball that enabled him to pitch inside to right handed hitters consistently. Collins curveball was 67-68 mph and had good rotation and bite to it. His change up is still developing. Better extension out front on his finish might enable Collins to improve his current stuff. Collins also showed some hitting ability in addition to his outfield arm strength as a position player. He has strong hands and a line drive swing and good bat speed and should be watched as a player as well as a pitcher. Collins is an excellent student.
