Scott Elgin is a 2018 RHP/3B, 1B with a 6-1 200 lb. frame from Hoover, AL who attends Hoover. Solid, sturdy build with present strength and athleticism. Works to a 3/4 arm slot, delivery is online, clean, and very repeatable. Good armspeed, clean loose arm-action through the backside. Solid extension over frontside, fastball up to 84 mph with life and armside run when located down in the zone. Shows very advanced feel for curveball, low-70s offering has 12/6 shape and downer action and sharp finish. Also flashed changeup with some fading action. Knows how to mix pitches and can locate to both sides of plate. Also plays infield, has soft hands and gets into good fielding position. Solid arm across the diamond, works though the ball well with sound footwork. Right handed hitter, high back elbow set with toe-tap timing mechanism. Level, line-drive swing plane, bat stays in the zone for a long time, likes to work inside the ball. Named to the Fall Academic Showcase Top Prospect List.
