Javier Valdes is a 2016 SS/3B/2B with a 5-10 185 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Gulliver Schools. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and nice present strength throughout well proportioned frame. Ran a 7.30 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, fields the ball out front and has an extra tap at release, short arm action produces strong throws across the diamond, gets on top of throws well and shows carry without much effort, stays balanced moving up the middle with sound footwork, good on charge too with quick hands. Righthanded hitter, begins with an upright stance and a high back elbow in the box. Line drive swing plane with occasional lift out front, does a nice job of getting extended and shows fluidity to swing path. Limited shift of lower half but could continue to develop power with additional incorporation, quick hands and repeats swing well, keeps swing loose and easy. Good student.
