Matthew McGarry is a 2015 RHP with a 6-3 185 lb. frame from Portola Valley, CA who attends Menlo-Atherton HS. Slender high waisted build, lots of room to get stronger. High energy delivery, long extended arm action, 3/4's arm slot, very fast arm coming through, some cross body on release, whippy arm action. Fastball topped out at 94 mph, best fastballs are low 90's with very hard and late tailing action, gets downhill well enough. Threw both a slider and a curveball, slider a good present pitch with some 10/4 depth, curveball has hard spin and bite as well, shows a solid feel for a change up. Tends to overthrow at times and lose the zone, has the quality stuff to dial it back and still dominate. Very good student, verbal commitment to Vanderbilt.
