Mark Vargas is a 2014 3B/1B with a 6-3 215 lb. frame from Bronx, NY who attends Cardinal Hayes. Very large frame, good present strength and above average athleticism for his size. Solid runner, ran a 7.14 60 yard dash. Flashes some arm strength across the diamond, mechanics are a little inconsistent. Needs to attack the ball more aggressively on defense, has good hands. Right-handed hitter, works out of an open and upright stance. Really shows power potential, creates leverage and likes to the pitch inside. Good game swings, just needs to stay back a little better. Ball carries off his bat, likes the fastball. Good student.
