Brandon Rayne is a 2015 C/RHP/3B with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Cypress, TX who attends Cypress Woods HS. Slender athletic build, lots of room to get stronger. 7.21 runner, showed good arm strength behind the plate with a long, loose arm action, accurate throws, worked hard blocking and receiving, 2.01 best pop time. Also showed good infield skills, works through the ball well with soft hands, accurate on line throws. Switch-hitter, similar approaches both sides, very deep hand load creates lots of unnecessary length to the ball, loose extended line drive swing through the zone, better present bat speed from the left side with the ability to pull the ball hard on his pitch, projects offensively with additional strength. Also pitched, fast paced delivery with cross body landing with high 3/4's to over the top release and a big body lean, will need to get better direction to the plate. Fastball topped at 81 mph, mostly straight, threw his breaking balls consistently for strikes and worked very quickly. Versatile athlete who should continue to improve. Excellent student.
