Michael Spears is a 2017 OF/MIF with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Winter Park, FL who attends Orangewood Christian HS. Medium athletic build with some present strength and room for more. 6.76 runner, fluid actions in the outfield going to the ball, long arm action with a very long stride out front, left field type arm strength. Right handed hitter, hits from a wide base with a high hand start, has quick hands and a pretty short swing, hits the ball out front, simple and repeatable swing mechanics, has a feel for the barrel and squares the ball up, line drive contact with some gap power. Well coached with good skills. Good student, verbal commitment to Mississippi.
