Zachary Watson is a 2016 SS/RHP with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Ruston, LA who attends West Ouachita HS. Medium, athletic frame with a lean and loose projectable frame, full of fast-twitch muscle. Pull speed, impact type who ran a 6.38 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, moves well on feet and shows range up the middle, sound defensive tools with quick release and quick arm from lower slot, balanced actions with solid arm strength and carry across. Also showed arm strength on the mound, up to 85 mph, mostly true but competes and works through the zone. Stays tall on backside and showed a loose and easy arm action through the back. Right-handed hitter, starts with a balanced stance in the box, wide base and high hand set. Short, quick path to the ball and shows present strength in line drive swing plane. Quick barrel, remains under control through swing, creates contact out front with quick hands and flashes nice carry to pull side. Verbal commitment to Louisiana State. Named to South Top Prospect List. Good student.
