Kyle Skipworth is a 2008 C/3B/OF with a 6'3'', 195 lb. frame from Riverside, CA who attends Patriot HS. He has a long and rangy body that hasn't begun to get strong yet. Skipworth established himself firmly as the top high school catching prospect in the 2008 class at the National. His left handed bat would make him a top prospect at any position. He has a loose, easy swing and keeps his hands short and quick to the ball. Skipworth hit the ball hard to all fields and showed plus pull power when he got a pitch on the inner half. There really isn't anything he needs to do to continue advancing as a hitter except to keep getting stronger. We're told Skipworth doesn't have extensive catching experience but his physical tools and comfort level catching are impressive and his arm strength excellent (87 mph in drills!). Skipworth's pop times aren't in the elite class but he throws easy and under control without any workout cheat to him. Skipworth showed his speed on a couple of gapper's and runs and moves with athletic quickness and agility. There will be plenty of comparisons to Joe Mauer between now and the 2008 draft. Selected to 2007 Aflac All-American team.

Kyle Skipworth is a 2008 C/3B/OF with a 6'3'', 195 lb. frame from Riverside, CA who attends Patriot HS. Selected a Top Prospect. Skipworth has a long body with a rangy projectable build. Defensively, Skipworth is an athletic catcher who moves well behind the plate with good agility. He sits well as a receiver and has solid hands behind the dish. Skipworth throws with a quick arm action and has solid arm strength on his throws to second base. He has projectable catch and throw skills in large part because of his good athleticism. At the plate, Skipworth starts from a slightly closed stance with an upright stance. He swings on a flat swing path and generates good bat speed through the zone. Skipworth swings on a line drive plane and has a long finish through contact. He showed very good hitting tools and showed some present pop between the foul lines. He has very coachable skills which will help raise his overall upside. He has the potential to be a very good player.

He has a projectable body and should fill out well in the next few years. Defensively, Skipworth moves well behind the plate and is a good receiver. He makes nice online throws and has arm strength. At the plate, Skipworth has quick hands with bat speed. He has big time power to the pullside and has power potential to all fields. Skipworth has a smooth stroke and maintains good balance through his swing. Good young follow. Excellent student.

Kyle Skipworth is a 2008 3B/C/1B with a 6'3'', 185 lb. frame from Riverside, CA, who attends Patriot HS. Lean, tall, projectable frame. Defensively he has arm strength from the IF and behind the plate. In the field he has soft hands and nice footwork. Skipworth has great actions for a tall player and looks very smooth defensively. He made a great diving play to his left during one of the showcase games. At the plate he is a left handed hitter who hits from a closed stance with a slight crouch. Skipworth has good swing mechanics with bat speed through the hitting zone. He showed the ability to hit to all fields and has power to the pull side. The ball jumps off his bat, and he has loose wrists with good extension. He has great upside to his overall game and is a must follow for DI coaches and pro scouts. Only an '08 with time to grow. He is an excellent student as well.
