Christopher Nelson is a 2016 3B/RHP/C with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from San Antonio, TX who attends Medina Valley HS. Medium frame, athletic and well-proportioned build. Right handed hitter, simple hand trigger and load, no stride, shows rotational swing with good bat speed. Ability to get extended, ball carries off the barrel, could utilize lower half more consistently. Shows solid defensive tools at catcher and in the infield. Compact arm-action, generates decent carry on throws, gains ground with feet. Also pitches, shows a drop-and-drive delivery, uses lower half well through release. Fastball with cutting action up to 79 mph, can be tough to barrel when located in strike zone. Also mixes in slow curveball with 12/6 to 11/5 shape and decent depth. Very good student.
