Newt Johnson is a 2014 3B/SS with a 6-1 210 lb. frame from Rapid City, SD who attends St Thomas More HS. Large frame with present strength. As an infielder he showed good body control with good corner fielding actions. He took good angles to the ball and receives the ball extremely well and had good arm strength with online carry. As a right handed pitcher he pitched from a high 3/4 arm slot with long loose arm action and good mechanics on the mound. He showed good command of his fastball in the zone. As a right handed hitter he hit from a square stance with an aggressive approach, he showed quick hands with good balance and squared up the ball with power potential. Excellent Student. Named to Top Prospect Team.
