Joey Hainsfurther is a 2008 SS/C with a 5'11'', 175 lb. frame from Dallas, TX who attends Highland Park HS. He has a medium build with good compact strength. Hainsfurther is a primary shortstop now but will be a second baseman or catcher at the next level. We've seen him catch and his tools/skills play really well there. His ability at second base in Cincinnati was stunning, though. He has excellent hand quickness, very quick and balanced feet and his arm strength is far better than you will find on many high level second baseman. He played with flash and skill and really stood out. Offensively, Hainsfurther is a switch-hitter with similar approaches from both sides and a bit more bat speed left handed. He has a busy set up both ways, with a deep load and a hand hitch to get the bat going, which affects his timing. Once he gets his swing going he has a quick line drive stroke and hits the ball hard to all fields. He has a bit more lift right handed but more length as well. Hainsfurther has some adjustments to make with the bat still but he has the skills and approach to be a solid top of the order hitter. He's a ball player type with a gamer mentality and performs at a high level. Hainsfurther is also a very good student.

Joey Hainsfurther is a 2008 SS/C with a 5'11'', 175 lb. frame from Dallas TX, who attends Highland Park HS. He has a athletic, well proportioned build with nice athletic life. We've seen Hainsfurther catch in the past but he only played infield at this event. He's a top level prospect at both positions and is the type of athlete who could probably play anywhere on the field with skill. He has very smooth actions and athletic balance and a top level throwing arm. Hainsfurther plays with confidence and aggressiveness, which makes his tools stand out even more. Offensively, Hainsfurther is a switch-hitter with bat speed from both sides of the plate. He shows a bit more power from the left side but has a balanced approach with quick hands from both sides of the plate and makes consistent hard line drive contact. He's a 7.20 runner in the 60 but plays faster on the bases and on defense. Hainsfurther has tools across the board and knows how to play. He could develop into one of the top players in the 2008 class and is especially intriguing as a catcher in the long run. Follow very closely! Hainsfurther is also an excellent student.

Joe Hainsfurther is a 2008 SS/C with a 5'10'', 165 lb. frame from Dallas, TX, who attends Highland Park HS. Named to the Top Prospect Team at this event. Defensively he showed well at SS and C. At SS he has great actions with nice footwork and soft hands. Hainsfurther has instincts, and plus range that allows him to get to every ball. Also has a quick arm with arm strength. Behind the plate he also shows his arm strength with a quick release and pop times under 2.00. Hainsfurther is an advanced defensive player at both positions. At the plate he uses a toe tap trigger with a no stride approach. He has very good bat speed through the zone with a line drive swing plane, and uses the whole field. Hainsfurther has gap power, with a little more pop from the left side. Hainsfurther has a great all-around game, and is a must follow. He is also a very good student.
