James Prendergast is a 2016 OF/RHP with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from Torrance, CA who attends South Torrance HS. Large, athletic frame with solid strength throughout body and good projection remaining. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.16 seconds. Hits from spread stance with deep hand set, good shift into contact with ability to turn the barrel, has some jump off the barrel. Does a good job hitting the ball into the air with authority; more power will come with additional strength gains. Solid extension through contact. Moves well to the ball in the outfield with solid athleticism throughout actions, will stop a bit to field rather than working through the ball, still shows good ability to gather and release in timely manner with relative smoothness. OF velocity up to 83 MPH. Pitched as well, shorter arm action to high three quarters slot, FB worked 75-78 with good sinking action. Uses lower half well, stays balanced. Mixed in slider with solid cutting break, threw strikes consistently with both pitches. Good student.
