2013 Mid Atlantic Underclass Showcase
Lucas Maldonado is a 2015 LHP with a 6-2 200 lb. frame from Hawthorne, NY who attends Iona Preparatory. Tall, large lean frame with present strength. Pitches from a low three quarters arm slot. Deceptive delivery, hides the baseball well, pitches downhill with a quick well paced delivery, holds runners well. Good command, kept fastball in bottom half of strike zone consistently and showed good feel for slider. Deep sweeping slider with good spin rate and bite, located it frequently for called strikes on backdoor corner to right handers, advanced pitchability, really impressive outing at this event. Swung the bat well in BP, showed interesting hitting tools as well. Good student.
