Devin Ortiz is a 2017 RHP/SS with a 6-3 187 lb. frame from Nutley, NJ who attends St Joseph Regional HS. Strong athletic build with good physical projection left, broad shoulders. Medium length arm action, has good leverage to the plate from a high 3/4's arm slot, will drop lower at times. Upper 80's fastball, topped out at 90 mph, has good arm side life at times. Throws both a curveball and a slider. Has good shape to his curveball with good two-plane depth, slider has good firmness and some sweeping tilt. Did not see a change up. Good athlete with some two-way potential. Right handed hitter with a long and loose swing and some power potential. 6.95 runner, third base profile with some quickness to his feet and soft hands at the ball. Good student, verbal commitment to Virginia.
