Joshua Fernandez is a 2018 OF/LHP with a 5-10 185 lb. frame from Hondo, TX who attends Hondo HS. Recorded a 7.41 60-yard dash. Strong build with present athleticism and physicality. Primary outfielder who showed quick footwork and moved well through the ball. Throws were accurate across and transitions into throws well. Full arm circle and action on the mound and released from a high three-quarter arm slot. Good pitchability and was able to command his pitches to both sides of the plate. Quality feel to spin and the curveball had big break. Fastball showed occasional cut; changeup flashed effectiveness with similar hand speed and fade. Changeup is a promising pitch and should be used more. Easy swing at the plate with big power. Excellent use of lower half and generates some hip torque through the ball. Has very good strength incorporated into the swing with a simple load and execution. Very physical and high power ceiling. Named to the 2017 Sunshine South Showcase Top Prospect List. Outstanding student.
