Ahmad Ali is a 2018 RHP/3B with a 6-2 220 lb. frame from Fayetteville, GA who attends Fayette County HS. Large frame with broad shoulders and present strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a fluid, side step delivery. Hides the baseball well at take back with a compact arm circle and released form a high three-quarters slot. Fastball generated slight run to arm side in the upper 70's to low 80's, topped at 83 miles per hour. Curveball flashed 12/6 shape with loose spin and occasional depth in the upper 60's. Showed some feel for both pitches while primarily looking to work the outer edge of the plate. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing smooth paced, deliberate footwork while rounding the baseball. Funnels the baseball cleanly and worked through exchange quickly. Created accurate carry across the infield from multiple arm slot topping at 77 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a spread, open stance and simple leg lift trigger. Coils hands slightly at load. Direct hand path to baseball with a naturally leverage barrel plane through extension. Consistently looked to turn top hand to contact with authority generating loud contact to the pull side gap when squared. Good student as well.
