2013 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
Tyler Sapsford is a 2016 SS/RHP with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from Tokyo, JPN who attends American School in Japan. Nice athletic build, has some strength with more to come. Right handed hitter, stays on his back side but uses lower half well to generate bat speed, long loose swing, good flow to contact, has some pop and projects more. Athletic actions at shortstop, smooth through the ball, showed range up the middle and made all the game plays, throws have some carry with developing arm strength. Also pitched, prototypical Japanese taught delivery with a pause at the balance point, hides the ball well, can firm up front side on release, low effort clean release, 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped at 80 mph, mostly straight. Low 70's slurve type breaking ball, has tight spin and a short 11/5 shape. Projects in all areas. Good student. Named to the National Underclass Showcase Main Event Top Prospect Team.
