Alejandro Castro is a 2016 LHP/1B with a 6-0 210 lb. frame from Hialeah Gardens, FL who attends City Of Hialeah Education Academy. Big and strong build, especially in the lower half, pretty mature physically, Big rocker step to start his delivery, gathers well at his balance point, uses his lower half well and gets good push to the plate, compact arm action that hides the ball well, extended low 3/4's arm slot, sound delivery with good rhythm that he repeats well. Fastball topped out at 84 mph, varies the velocity, movement and location with maturity, gets lots of life to his fastball and pounds the strike zone with it, velocity plays up due to deception. Big sweeping curveball, break is a bit early but is deep and gets hitters off balance. Knows how to pitch and mixes his pitches well, also fields his position well. Lefty who can get hitters out.
