Joe Lomangino is a 2021 SS/RHP with a 5-9 150 lb. frame from Morganville, NJ who attends Marlboro. Small and young build with square shoulders, plenty of growing still to do and time to do so. Ran a 5.01 second 40 yard dash. Primary shortstop, moves well to the ball, good overall actions getting low into a good fielding position, extra steps into release, releases from a low arm angle and showed the ability to throw from multiple angles, average arm strength that should continue to improve as he matures, topped out at 78 mph across the diamond. Also pitched, sets up in the middle of the rubber, starts windup with a short backwards rocker step to a stiff high leg lift, coils at balance point, compact arm action up to a high 3/4 arm slot, uses back leg to drive down the mound but could still get more lower half usage, extended front side, long stride down the mound, fastball is straight, curveball has late bite, good feel for curveball, topped out at 81 mph on the mound. Righthanded hitter, slightly open stance with hands sitting away from body, leg lift trigger, could utilize lower half more into swing for added strength to contact, linear path through zone, long finish, mostly middle to pull contact during batting practice round.
